The Advantages of Choosing a Bike that is Reliable
The pleasures of cycling and its benefits are countless. From mountain bikes to BMX bikes, there are many choices for your riding options. Whether you wish to conquer the rough terrains of the great outdoors or smooth sailing on paved roads, bikes come in a variety for different purposes. Bicycles are ideal to take the stress off by riding in the countryside, to commute daily to work, to run errands, socialise and to exercise. Having a sturdy bike that does not break down often is an advantage. How you choose a bike mainly depends on what you wish to achieve. If you are an adventure rider who loves to take your bike through the wilderness, then a good quality mountain bike will certainly do the job for you.
Mountain bikes are strong enough to handle impacts and absorb shock. The tires can withstand rocks, roots, dirt, gravel and various surfaces. These have a better system of brakes and lower gears to handle steeper terrains. A good mountain bike is light-weight yet strong enough to carry weight and pressure. Although mountain bikes are great for uneven surfaces and roads, they are less efficient on paved roads. Changing the tyres can adjust the bike for smoother surfaces. The two main variations of a mountain bike are hardtail and full suspension. Hardtails include a front suspension with no rear suspension shocks. Full suspension bikes have both front and rear suspension shocks. If you are looking for a bike strictly for riding steep, bumpy and twisted trails, then a full suspension is ideal. Hardtail bikes can be used on paved and non-paved roads but are not ideal for aggressive riding.
Road bikes are mostly used for commuting on urban streets. These are lighter in weight and have thinner tyres. Road bikes are faster and made for touring, racing and fitness riding. The reliability of your bikes mainly depends on the frame. Bike frames are what hold your bike together and the costliest of bike parts. You can always change bike parts but not the frame. The only way you can change the frame is by buying an entire frame, which will cost you more. Bike frames are made out of carbon, chrome, aluminium, titanium and carbon fibre. Titanium is expensive but reliable and sturdy. It is lighter, stronger, resilient and has more fatigue life than steel. Steel is the most common option for bike frames while carbon fibres are extremely light and resist corrosion.
